TANGS SALE - 75 Dazzling Years!

Yes, the Tangs Sale is back again - starting from today!

Unfortunately, the things on sale are the usual few. You will see a cluster of ppl surrounding at the GUESS bags sales corner (somehow i feel the discounted GUESS bags in the metal trolley have similar designs season after season), in between the mountains of shoe boxes on level 2 and anywhere that screams SALE.

Combing through the sales smoothly requires some experience. Based on moi experiences, you can skip the sections that do not sell things that do not suit your style – because they never will. For me, I like to start from Additions section up till the bra section on level 2 and can safely skip the rest.

General Tips for every female shoppers in choosing clothes and shoes:

1) Go at the right time

Always go to a sale during the first few days – this is to make sure you got your sizes (think I’ve said that many times!). And to do that, you have to stay informed of the great sales happenings.

Most crowded periods: weekdays during lunch time and after office hours. Most Sales start on a weekday, usu. Friday. If you are really serious, go apply half day leave on the first day!

2) Wear the right attire

Nian Fen once told me that her auntie wears shorts and slippers during sales. And I think it’s pretty smart cos you do not have to wait behind the long queues at the fitting room. You can try clothes and shoes on the spot (don’t be like some ang mohs who strip openly to their undies to avoid the queues).

However, it will not be practical if you are going to the sale from office or school. A better method will be to familiar yourself with the usually size (both US and UK) you wear. So once you are at the clothes rack, pick that size as well as something that is one size smaller and bigger. Next, you can proceed to hit the dressing rooms. If you are very familiar with the place, you will know the location of some secluded dressing rooms where you can take your time to try the clothes.

3) Avoid impulsive buys

If you are an impulsive buyer, it will be better for a wise friend to accompany you to the sale. However, if you happen to be in a sale alone, do not worry. Before you absorbed everything that greets your eyes, plan mentally what you really need and the amount you are willing to spend. This will allow you to focus better and reduce the chances of impulsive buys.

For something outside your shopping list, grab the items and hold on to it first. If possible, find a quiet corner to think carefully.

No. 1 consideration: does the item really look good on you? I will strongly encourage you to go for the fit and design rather than just the brand. Also, can the item match with most of the things in your wardrobe?
No. 2 consideration: Do you feel comfortable wearing it – whether it is for clothes or shoes?
No. 3 consideration: Is the quality worth the price? Do you know where to find substitutes at a better price?
No. 4 consideration: up to this stage, if you decide to buy the item and are satisfied with the size, you may want to check with the salesgirl on other colours of that item.

But if you have enough $$ to spare, you can forget the above.

Happy Shopping!
