As you know, I'll be moving house soon. I have started to tidy some of my stuff and one of my biggest headache was my 3 year worth of university chemistry materials. I can't bear to throw them away... No 1 reason: Most of my textooks are really expensive (SG$40 onwards and the most expensive being Organic Chemistry by Clay something SG$72.80) and I remembered I queued up bitterly at the NUS science co-op just to purchase some of these texts. No 2 reason: these materials contains my sweat, youth and most imptly, memories in NUS. Yes, 我是一个很念旧的人! When I flipped through some of my lab reports, tutorials and lecture notes, all the memories I had of NUS just came back to me naturally. I vividly remembered who sat with me for what modules, how I was always late for certain lectures cos the lectures start at 8 am, me and fellow chemists in ugly goggles struggling in lab, the tutorials I hated and feared (usu. have numerous drawings on notes), the amount of time spent mugging in science lib during examination period etc. Though I am certain there are periods of time I felt really stress during those days, but it seems all so sweet to me now.
Anyway, I am very fortunate to find my 传人, GR. He's going to start his first year at NUS this july and he plans to major in chemistry. Knowing this, I quickly suggested giving him all my chem materials and he happily accepted the idea.
So he drove his dad's van to collect the stuff today...
Packing, packing....
And it cleared 3 big sections of my cupboard. Happi! =)
3 years contained in 5 plastic bags?
This is the New and the Old.
Obviously, you know why I looked so happy in the pic. GR with forced smile... probably thinking of where to place the books and notes in his room.
To GR and newbies out there, enjoy this new journey ahead of you! There may be obstacles during the process but just face them bravely and you will realise you gain more instead. And before you know it, you will soon reach your destination - just like I had. 加油!加油!加油!
